5 Reasons to start Driver CPC now
Qualifying dates are September 2013 for PCV drivers and September 2014 for HGV drivers.

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) has been on a professional driver training plan 2008, but statistics show that training uptake is slow.

In order to complete the required Driver CPC training in the UK on time, it requires 3.5 million Driver CPC hours to be completed every year; however, during the past few years, overall there have been 1,814,224 hours completed with only 7,862 Driver Qualification Cards being issued out to a driver population of around 500,000.

Reason 1

As the critical qualifying dates approach, training charges may become more expensive as demand increases. With the TTC Commitment Initiative, prices are fixed and training guaranteed by the qualifying date. In addition cost savings for example by learning and applying fuel efficient driving techniques can start saving money now.

Reason 2

It is the individual driver's responsibility to complete Driver CPC; Failure to complete Driver CPC by the qualifying date will result in many drivers not being able to drive professionally until qualified.

Reason 3

With qualifying dates fast approaching, time is running short for training to be completed. If drivers and businesses leave training until the last minute, it will be less cost effective to pay more to train and try and arrange training around busy work schedules.

Reason 4

Employers will attach considerable value to drivers who have completed their training and obtained a Driver Qualification Card, by the qualifying date. Drivers' will be able to continue driving professionally with no interruption to their career.
Similarly self employed hauliers can demonstrate added value to their customers who will know that their service will not be compromised.

Reason 5

Good quality vocational training imparts knowledge and education that can be put to good use for life; improving efficiency, working conditions and demonstrating value for money with cost saving strategies.
