The Driver CPC is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life.
It is a Continuous Development Programme for professional drivers and offers financial benefits through speed awareness, fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance, accident and insurance costs, as well as intangible benefits through increased safety culture and improved Company driver profile.
- The Initial Qualification must be achieved by new LGV and PCV drivers along with their vocational licence to enable them to use their licence professionally. These training courses are being provided by PCV and HGV Training Schools.
- Periodic Training of 35 hours over 5 year period must be achieved by all professional drivers. Training is being provided by the JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) Approved Training Centres like TTC Automotive.
